Discovering the real problem
Who is AstraZeneca?
AstraZeneca is a global pharmaceutical company focused on developing innovative medicines to improve patients' lives. In Mexico, they aimed to increase treatment adherence and enhance patient follow-up in a specific business line, facing regulatory and adoption challenges.
Originally, they had an idea to improve the transportation of medical representatives in their patient follow-up program.
This proposal was not validated in the market. Therefore, their need was clear:
Analyze the processes involved in their program to identify the real problem.
Innovation that needed direction
Before working with SISU, they did not have digital solutions for their patient tracking program, which resulted in:
Low occupancy of the medical visitors' team.
Regulatory challenges that limited efficient operation.
Lack of understanding of the reasons for the low adoption of the program.
How we found the way forward
SISU proposed conducting a vision Sprint to uncover the real cause of low effectiveness and to understand if the app was truly the right solution.
The goal was to identify the root of the problem before investing in technological development, demonstrating the importance of rethinking preconceived ideas.
The plan
Research
Conduct user interviews to gain a comprehensive understanding of the processes.
Analyze
Prioritize findings and map the actual obstacles of the program.
Redefine
Align the team around the right problem and define a flow with clear objectives.
Build
Develop a comprehensive application that addresses the identified problem.
This iterative approach allowed for risk reduction, resource optimization, and the creation of a product that met their expectations, with Sisu as their ally.
From idea to reality
With the plan in hand, we began an iterative process of design and development.
We discovered the real problem
We identified that the barrier was not the mobility of the visitors, as was thought, but rather the lack of patients in the program.
We focus on the user
We transformed manual card enrollment into an agile and accessible digital flow for doctors and patients.
We transform investment into results
We focused resources on what truly generates impact.
Results
Collaborating with AstraZeneca allowed:
- A solution focused on the real problem.
- Increased effectiveness of the patient follow-up program.
- Digitizing the enrollment and follow-up process.
- Avoiding unnecessary developments by optimizing project resources and time.
What we learned together
- Understanding users deeply allows us to design impactful products.
- A strategic vision ensures solutions aligned with clear objectives.
- Being willing to challenge initial ideas opens the door to innovative solutions.
"They did a great job; the application was disruptive, professional, and they managed to create an innovative solution without losing sight of the human aspect and empathy. They were able to address everything we needed, and we achieved a great connection with them."
